Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Steady Home Guide ("we", "us") collects when you use steadyhomeguide.com, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Quote requests: the project you need, your ZIP code, name, phone number, email address, timeline, whether you own the home and any notes you add.
• Contact messages: your name, email address and message.
• Consent records: the text of the consent you agreed to, the date and time, your IP address and browser information. We keep these to prove consent was given.

Information collected automatically

• Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page and time. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this data to deliver and protect the site.
• Approximate location (country and state) derived from your IP address, used to route quote requests and to protect against abuse.
• We do not use advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies.

How we use information

• To match your quote request with installers and partners who serve your area, and to let them contact you.
• To respond to your messages.
• To operate, secure and improve the site, including rate limiting and spam prevention.
• To comply with law and to keep records of consent.

How we share information

• Installers and partners. When you submit a quote request, we share it with up to four home-safety installers or partner networks that serve your ZIP code so they can contact you with a quote. They may pay us a referral fee. Under some state laws this sharing counts as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time (see Your rights).
• Service providers. Cloudflare hosts the site and stores form submissions. Providers may use your information only to perform services for us.
• Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.

We do not sell your information to data brokers, and we do not share contact messages with third parties.

Calls and text messages

If you consent on a quote form, we and the installers who receive your request may call or text you at the number you provided, including with automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. To stop text messages, reply STOP to the sender. To withdraw consent for calls, tell the caller or contact us and we will notify the partners who received your request.

How long we keep information

Quote requests and consent records are kept for up to five years to document consent and resolve disputes, then deleted. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period under its own policy.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you and receive a copy.
• Correct or delete your personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, including "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information", use the contact form and include the email address or phone number you used. We verify requests by confirming details you submitted. Authorized agents may submit requests on your behalf with your written permission. We respond within the time required by law, usually 45 days.

Children

The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

Form submissions are encrypted in transit and stored with our hosting provider with access limited to our team. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive health or financial details through our forms.

Our guides link to manufacturers, retailers and government sites. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the home page.
