Editorial policy

Prices

• We use list prices published by manufacturers, dealers and retailers. We record the date we checked each price and show it in the guide.
• Where a brand sells only through in-home quotes and publishes no prices, we say so. We then give ranges that customers have reported publicly, and we label them as reported, not list, prices.
• Installed prices are shown as ranges because labor, permits and home layout differ by region.
• We re-check prices in every guide at least twice a year, and sooner when a manufacturer announces a change.

Coverage rules

• Medicare statements come from medicare.gov and cms.gov. Medicaid statements come from medicaid.gov and state agency pages. VA statements come from va.gov.
• When a rule varies by state or plan, we say so and tell you what to ask your plan or agency.
• We do not describe a product as "covered by Medicare" unless Medicare's own pages say it is.

Rankings and reviews

• Rankings are based on published specifications, price, warranty terms, contract terms and the volume and pattern of public customer feedback.
• Brands cannot pay for placement. Affiliate or referral relationships do not affect where a product appears.
• We do not publish fabricated hands-on testing claims. If we compared published specifications rather than testing units, we say that.

Use of AI tools

We use software, including AI tools, to gather sources, organize research and draft text. Our editors review each guide against its sources before publication. Responsibility for what we publish rests with our editorial team, not with a tool.

Corrections

We correct factual errors as soon as we confirm them and update the "Updated" date on the guide. Report an error through the contact page.

What we will not do

• Give medical, legal or financial advice for your specific situation.
• Recommend a product because it pays a higher commission.
• Share your quote request with anyone other than installers or partners who serve your request, as described in our privacy policy.
